A Long Time Coming

For the first 3 months of our life in Draper and my transition to riding public transit, I would find any excuse I could to blame traffic, parking, timing of lights, school bus pick-ups, speed traps, slow drivers, etc. for my failure to get to the train station on time.  I’d usually miss my anticipated train 2-3 times a week and it would severely throw off my morning.  When Matt’s repeated suggestion of “why don’t you just leave 5 minutes earlier”  finally hit home I developed a love for public transit.  I mean, what’s better than having somebody else do your driving for you?  I get to read, nap or sit down staring blankly at the stranger in front of me rather than dealing with downtown traffic and parking garages.

Last night when we unexpectedly happened upon some Jazz tickets, it was obvious to me that TRAX was the only way to get there.  Yes, I had already spent 2 hours commuting to and from work but I caught myself not letting up on Matt’s attempts to convince me that we should drive.  Even though Matt spent the entire ride on the phone for work, I thoroughly enjoyed knowing the “stranger” sitting in front of me so I didn’t have to stare so blankly.  Oh yeah, and the Jazz won, but who’s counting anyway? J

I seriously was so excited to have a riding partner.

Matt photo-bombs every photo he can, so I wasn't surprised when Russ and Margo did the same thing to us.
