The Holiday Post.

Thanksgiving came and went, but not without a few highlights and low lights.  Most which are severely undocumented since my camera is at the Nikon repair center.

Lowlights:
My favorite and only sister got in a horrible car accident on Monday that sent her to the hospital with her pelvis broken in 4 places, all the "wings" broke off the bottom 5 vertebrae of her back, a collapsed lung, several broken ribs and internal bleeding around her kidney and adrenal gland.  She’s a champ and was even making jokes with the doctors in the emergency room right after the accident.  Hopefully her inability to walk will lead to more QT with me and her 3 little runts that I adore.

I was summoned to Jury Duty.  Did you know that 20 are called and 4 are chosen based on your answers to the questionnaire they provide?  I felt like my chances were so slim that as I sat there, I convinced myself there was no way I’d be selected and I created a list of all the things I’d accomplish with my big “day off”…apparently they liked my answers and I was selected.  Long day.  But I did get a free meal from Jim’s Family Restaurant and $18.25 pre tax for my judicial service.

Highlights:
Matt’s family came from all over (San Diego, Texas, Palo Alto and Alaska) to spend the holiday with us.  We ate a lovely dinner at The Grand and afterwards my father in law told me he’d never seen me eat that much in his life.  (Not sure if that’s a highlight or a low light.)

I physically cannot understand how people don’t enjoy Black Friday shopping.  I mean, I’m grateful for the people that don’t because it makes the crowds smaller, but really it’s probably one of my favorite days of the year.  This year Kate, Mindy and I door busted Target and Wal Mart, and I was NOT disappointed in my finds.

Lots of yummy food including the Pie, Café Rio, BBQ, etc.  Not to mention, I ate and actually enjoyed eating at a Japanese restaurant.  Progress is progress.

Snowboarding and tubing.  Not that I actually participated in these events (I was too busy shopping), but I’m sure Matt enjoyed it.

We bought our own copy of Settlers of Catan and I've already won twice.  I don’t know what it is, but I’m really good at that game.
