Penny smart, dollar dumb.

The other day I had to run an errand at Gateway during my lunch break.  While I was there I remembered Kate and I had bought a bunch of groupons to Juicy Berry.  When I realized they were expiring in 5 days and I still had 3 to use, I convinced myself that it was perfectly acceptable to get frozen yogurt by yourself as a replacement for lunch, while it’s cold enough outside to be wearing a down coat, scarf and gloves.

The groupon was for $6 of frozen yogurt.  When I calculated that mine usually cost around $3.00, I figured I should get double the size I usually get since I could…the yogurt wasn’t quite set but I served myself anyway thinking “I can just throw this away if I don’t eat it, it’s basically free!”  I got so carried away that I ended up having to pay $2.78 out of pocket for this “free” yogurt.  That’s right, it rang up to $8.78.

It was so cold outside that the gummy bears basically froze themselves, and  I was riding trax, and carrying a large bag from my purchase.  Needless to say, not much of this runny “free” yogurt got eaten.  But at least I didn’t waste the groupon, right?

  1. Completely justified, Lisa. Sounds like something I would do. I don't know if that will make you feel any better ;-P
