In Honor of Mother, and Huskies

My mom grew up with huskies which naturally sparked her interest in the annual Iditarod race in Alaska.  One summer I moved to Alaska and when my family came to visit it relit the flame and we’ve been following the Iditarod ever since.  For the last few years my Mom has thrown a party to celebrate.

Mom really out did herself this year and somehow sealed our favorite treats inside of these metal "dog food" cans, complete with a photo and description of our favorite dogs.  Luckily these were a pre-dinner treat so I was able to eat skittles, rasinettes, and gummy worms in between bites of salad and rolls.

We had our annual dog-sled race, but of course this year we took it one step further by weighing down our sleds with money.  And of course, Ansen and Matt got a little carried away with it.

I ended up being the only one not to add weight to my sled and I actually did okay in the bracket.

All of the dogs ready to race...and Liv had double dogs.

Even though Ashleigh was the one with the bad attitude once she realized that all 9 of us were going to race each other twice only 2 cars at a time, she won.  Matt came in second and "somebody" convinced him to choose these scentsy candles for his prize...
